Stop Gun Violence, Mandatory Gun Ownership!

(NaturalNews) The most appropriate response to gun violence in America is to simply mandate that all able bodied, responsible citizens own guns and be formally trained in their proper use. This is the unconventional impetus behind a new movement known as Project Amendment 28, which follows the lead of Switzerland in trying to promote a peaceful, well-balanced society through compulsory gun ownership.

Though it is sure to generate considerable controversy among those with a political or personal aversion to guns, the concept has already been shown to be a success elsewhere. According to Mike Piccione from The Daily Caller, the man behind Project Amendment 28, the U.S. would do well to mimic the model of the European nation of Switzerland, which has long maintained that all civilians should possess firearms, and also happens to have one of the safest and most desirable societies in Europe.

"[The Swiss] love guns so much that their government picks up the tab to ensure that people own them and form militias," writes Piccione, advocating for a similar approach here in the states. "That's right, government funded civilian militias are the foundation of the most peaceful of European countries."

Switzerland is so comfortable with guns, in fact, that some citizens openly stroll the streets with Sig SG 550s, for instance, a powerful and fully-automatic "assault rifle" that would draw considerable attention here in the U.S. And contrary to what the anti-gun lobby would have you believe, this unique policy of open gun ownershiphas not resulted in a society marked by bloodshed and school shootings.

"[Despite the prevalence of guns, the violent-crime rate is low (in Switzerland): government figures show about 0.5 gun homicides per 100,000 inhabitants in 2010," wrote Helena Bachmann in a recent piece for TIME. "By comparison, the U.S. rate in the same year was about 5 firearm killings per 100,000 people, according to a 2011 U.N. report." America's founders envisioned a similar 'gun culture' in the U.S. What this illustrates, of course, is that guns are not the problem, and that they may actually be the solution. By properly training citizens to use firearms, and then arming them with weapons capable of promoting peace and defending against violence and terrorism, a nation can stand strong and unified. To some, this idea might sound crazy, but it is precisely what the founders envisioned when they penned the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution with specific provisions for a well regulated militia.

"In order to provide for the security of the individual, state and general well-being of the country, all able bodied individuals shall be required to own one modern firearm and a minimum of ten rounds of associated ammunition," suggests Piccione as the possible wording for a potential 28th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution that would require gun ownership.

"Individuals are required to receive training in marksmanship and operation of firearms... Individuals that are fundamentally opposed to owning a firearm shall be taxed and each year shall register with the government as firearms objectors until age 62 or until proven by a medical doctor to be unable to operate a firearm."

LEAP Motion Controller - Gesture Interface

Welcome to the future, this is truly futuristic, using tech from today. One thing I dislike about touch screen computers, I leave prints all over the thing. Smudges, marks, yuck! But with the Motion Controller, you no longer have to touch the screen, but you are still free from the mouse and trackpads. This gesture control interface has alot of promise if it can deliver as advertised.
